Before anyone in Fresno calls about a sunken slab, they ask Google what it costs. One of the 39 concrete sites in this metro answers.

On October 6 I ran 42 Google Maps searches for concrete levelling across Fresno, from the city centre and from points one and two steps out, and followed every website on every listing. On October 8 I read the 39 local sites again, page by page, and counted the words on them against the words people type. No company is named on this page.

  1. 219of 682

of everything Google suggests after “concrete leveling” here is about what it costs

  2. 2of 39

sites in the metro print any dollar figure, and one of the two is a legal deposit limit

  3. 74of 420

places in these search results open nothing, or someone else’s page

  4. 26of 62

listings in the niche never appear in a first ten anywhere in the metro

What they type, and what the sites here answer

Google finishes a half-typed search with what other people searched for. I collected those endings for “concrete leveling” around Fresno: 125 lookups, 494 different phrases, 682 of them falling into themes. On the right of each theme is the nearest thing the 39 local sites actually say, counted by hand.

  1. What will it cost

Typed 219 times in the suggestion lists

    1/39of the sites say it

A price on the site: 1 of 39 for a job, 2 of 39 with any dollar figure at all.
Counted from: the price lines on the 39 sites, read page by page.

  2. Does it actually work, and for how long

These sit in the run’s own “everything else” pile, 275 hits together

    7/39of the sites say it

A written warranty: 7 of 39. Nothing else on these sites speaks to how long a lift holds, or to what happens if the slab sinks again.
Counted from: warranty wording on the sites.

  3. Who should I call

Typed 85 times in the suggestion lists

    17/39of the sites say it

Licensed and insured in writing: 17 of 39. Family or local: 13 of 39. Addresses of jobs they have done: 0 of 39.
Counted from: what the sites write about themselves.

  4. Could I do it myself

Typed 45 times in the suggestion lists

    –not measured

Not measured in this report. No site here was checked for an answer to it.

  5. Lift it or tear it out

Typed 44 times in the suggestion lists

    –not measured

Not measured in this report either.

Where this comes from: Google’s own suggestion lists, collected October 6 (125 lookups, 494 distinct phrases, counts are how many lookups returned that phrase). The answers on the right were counted on the 39 sites of local firms of this trade whose pages could be read, October 8. A theme counts when the site says it in its own words anywhere on the pages I read, so this is a match by theme, not by exact sentence. Two themes say “not measured”: this run did not check the sites for them, and I would rather say so than guess.

Who Google shows, and how few of you there are

Each of the 42 searches returns a list. Here is how the 420 places in those lists are shared out, listing by listing.

One listing stood first in 15 of the 42 searches and sat in the first ten of 40 of them. Its Website button opens a page whose phone number is a template line, 234-567-8910, and whose contact address is info@mysite.com. It is number 30 in the table below.

One search, the way a phone shows it

Pick any of the 42. What you see below is everything Google gives a homeowner to tell ten companies apart.

Where this comes from: Google Maps on October 6, 42 searches, the first ten of each, in the order they came back. Results move with the time of day and with the phone, so one list is a snapshot, not a ranking. Ads are not counted. A listing marked as another trade is one whose own Google category is not a concrete contractor.

What happens when they tap Website

Every one of the 420 places above has a Website button, or does not. I followed all of them the same day.

      • Opens the company's own site 346
      • No website on the listing 57
      • Opens someone else's page or an error 17

So 74 of the 420 places a homeowner meets in these searches lead nowhere: 57 carry no website at all and 17 open somebody else’s page or an error. Two more sites in the metro put a browser warning in front of the company before it opens; neither of them reaches a first ten, so they are not in the bar above. Here is what all of these say, word for word.

      • No. 4, Roofing listing in the concrete searches

        DNS resolution error | www.roofprosroofing.com | Cloudflare

      • No. 16, Concrete contractor, 2 miles out

        404 · Page not found

      • No. 26, Concrete contractor

      • No. 43, Concrete contractor

        Service suspended | Webador

      • No. 62, Concrete contractor

        Squarespace - Website Expired

      • No. 17, Ready-mix and short load, since 1995

The certificate belongs to another domain, so the browser stops a new visitor first

      • No. 47, Commercial concrete, site footer says 2013

https does not answer at all; the page opens only over http

Where this comes from: the Website field of each listing, opened on October 6 and tried again on October 8. The titles above are the page titles as a browser shows them. The two warnings were checked by hand on October 8, because an automated certificate check is wrong often enough not to be trusted on its own.

      What the sites say instead

The same 39 sites, counted by what they put in writing. Nothing here is about taste or design: it is whether a sentence a homeowner is looking for exists on the page at all.

      • Wait time or job schedule0 of 39

Where this comes from: the text of the 39 sites, read October 8. A count of 23 means 23 different sites say it somewhere, not 23 mentions. The lines with 0 were looked for and not found on any of them.

The price list of the whole niche, in this metro

This is not a sample. These are all the dollar figures for their own work that any concrete site in Fresno puts in front of a customer.

      • Residential drivewaysPrinted on the page as: Residential driveways: $4,000+$4,000no. 25, the only site here with job prices
      • Patios and walkwaysPrinted on the page as: Patios and walkways: $3,000+$3,000no. 25, the only site here with job prices

The only other figure on any of the 39 sites is on a decorative concrete firm’s page, and it is the law rather than a price: A contractor is only allowed to request a deposit of $1000 or 10% of the contract total (whichever is less). A homeowner reads it and still does not know what a patio costs.

Meanwhile the phrases people type include “concrete leveling cost per square foot”, “average cost of foam concrete leveling” and “is concrete leveling expensive”. Nobody in the metro writes “no price without a visit” either, so the question is not refused. It is simply not met.

Where this comes from: the pages of the two firms that print a figure, quoted as printed, read October 8. Prices on a page are a starting point, not a quote, and that is how they are written there.

Who is already selling into that gap

While the question goes unanswered, 16 companies are running 23 ads aimed at the owners of firms like these, in the United States, right now. This is what they are selling and what they say.

Over the whole year, Google News carried four items about this trade anywhere in the country. The headline of one of them: Groundworks® Expands to West Texas and Enters New Mexico Market with Acquisition of WTX Foundation R (Business Wire, February 18, 2026.) The other three were a wildfire, a corporate update and a list of Bay Area contractors. A national group buying a local foundation repair firm was the only piece of business news the trade produced all year.

Where this comes from: the listings as Google Maps returned them on October 6 and the sites as they answered on October 6 and again on October 8. A dash means it was not read. “A message can reach them” means a form with a box for the message was found on the site, nothing more: whether anyone reads it, this page cannot see.

      How I checked

42 searches on Google Maps on October 6: “concrete leveling in Fresno, CA” for the whole metro, and “concrete leveling near me” from the centre and from points one and two steps north, south, east and west, with the southern and eastern squares split further because the results kept changing there. Together they returned 62 listings inside the metro, and 46 more that sit outside it or belong to another trade; those are left out of every count on this page.

Every Website button was followed the same day. On October 8 I opened the 39 local sites again and read them page by page: phone numbers and call links, forms and their fields, prices, reply promises, page titles, certificates. Some sites refuse a script and were read by hand. Where an automated check disagreed with what I saw with my own eyes, I kept what I saw and said so in the line above the number.

What this page cannot see: how many people call, how good anyone’s concrete is, or what any of these firms charge when they do quote. It is only about what Google Maps and these websites show a stranger who is about to spend a few thousand dollars.
