Leaving Thryv: what happens to your website

When you cancel Thryv, the account comes down and the Thryv website goes with it; the site can stay live for up to 30 days after you cancel. Notice is due at least 30 days before your next subscription period, and the cancellation takes effect when that next period ends, not on the day you ask. If the domain was yours before Thryv, their website terms say they release it along with your content.

What's different about Thryv

Of the eight companies in this guide, Thryv is the only one whose terms put the end date a full subscription period after your notice. If your period is a month, that means one more month. If your order runs by the year, a notice that misses the window can cost another year.

Before you give notice

  1. Find the subscription period on your Thryv order, monthly or yearly. It decides what a late notice costs.
  2. Call the URL Management team and ask who the domain is registered to and what they need to release it.
  3. Copy your text and photos, and export your contacts and invoices, while you can still log in.
  4. Have the new site ready before the old one comes down, so the domain switches in one step.

What to ask Thryv's URL Management team

Call 844-339-4574 before you give notice. Three questions, in this order:

1) Who is listed as the owner (registrant) of my domain, [yourdomain.com]?
2) If the domain was mine before Thryv, what do you need from me to release it along with my website content?
3) My subscription period ends on [date]. If I give notice today, on what date does my Thryv website come down?

How Thryv compares

Notice: the longest here, 30 days before the next period and then that whole period; Townsquare asks for the day before billing, Topline Pro and Rebolt for none. The site: taken down, as with most of the eight. The domain: released only if it was yours before Thryv, where Scorpion, Topline Pro and Rebolt say it's yours regardless.
